Madelein’s involvement with ADASA started in 2010 when she started as a volunteer, serving on the Western Cape’s Committee. In 2014 she was appointed as the Chairperson for ADASA Western Cape committee until November 2023, when she was appointed the Regional Manager.
Madelein is a Registered Nurse (General, Community, Psychiatry and Midwifery) who has been involved in various aspects of elderly care in the past 24 years.
She was the co-founder of Livewell Suites, now Livewell Care and the Villa at Nazareth House in Cape Town. She has a vast knowledge of legislation with regard to dementia care facilities.
She is passionate about dementia and elderly care.

Services Offered
Counselling and Information Service
Counselling and support to family and friends of dementia patients are available, where information about the illness, legal aspects, planning for the future, and available resources are given.
Dementia Training Courses
Caregivers in a private capacity or with facilities are trained to give optimal and specialised care to dementia patients.
Community developers
We are in the process of appointing community developers to create awareness and support in the communities around Cape Town.
Our community developers will provide information regarding signs and symptoms of dementia and much needed information on resources to assist families of people living with dementia.
Awareness programs
Dementia awareness is being created by means of talks at schools, churches, clinics, care facilities and any organization, requesting information.
We provide updated and informative flyers and posters.
On the the 21st of September of each year, we celebrate World Alzheimer’s day. Every year we give talks at schools, churches, facilities or on radio as part of the celebration and awareness campaign.
